Minor and Double-Major Programmes

DOUBLE MAJOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

The aim of the double major program (DMP) is to ensure the students who successfully carry out the diploma program in which they are enrolled, obtain a second undergraduate degree in another department.

 

Application to the Program and Admission Requirements

  • Applications must be made to the Director of Student Affairs by the deadline indicated in the academic calendar with the application form and transcript.
  • Students must be earliest at the beginning of their 3rd semester, latest at the beginning of their fifth semester as of the date they first enrolled in their major program. If the students enrolled in their associate degree program, they can apply the program earliest at the beginning of their 2nd semester and as the latest at the beginning of their 3rd semester.
  • In order for the student to apply for Double Major Program, students must have accomplished all the courses they took in their major program/ associate degree program until the semester they are applying, also their Cumulative Grade Point Average must be at least 2,72 and the student must rank in the top 20% in terms of success in the currently registered degree.
  • The student whose Cumulative Grade Point Average is at least 2,72, however whose rank is not in the top 20% in terms of success in the currently registered year; can apply the Double Major Program if the student hold a base score no lower than that of the program for which a double major application is made in the concerned year.
  • Students who study in Turkish programs and who want to do Double Major in English programs must pass the DÜİYES exam or prove that they are successful in international and national exams accepted by the authorized departments of Doğuş University.
  • Foreign students whose native language is not Turkish are required to prove that their knowledge of Turkish is sufficient if they want to do Double Major in the programs conducted in Turkish by attending the examinations of the relevant institutions.
  • Candidates who apply to Doğuş University's special talent programs must quiz out of the special talent exams to be conducted by the mentioned programs.
  • If the number of applications exceeds the quota determined by the faculty/ vocational school of higher education, the highest grade point average is given priority. When the grade point average is equal, the percentage of the student's success in the major program is evaluated.
  • The applications of the candidates who meet the application criteria are transferred by the Director of Student Affairs to the concerned Faculty’s Dean and Vocational School Directorate. The evaluation of the Double Major Programs  are rendered by the decision of the Faculty / Vocational School Executive Board one week before the  Course Registration in the academic calendar.
  • Applications are rendered as “accepted” or “rejected” in the evaluation stage by recommendation of the department offering the double major program and approval of the concerned administrative board.
  • Students can not register for more than one double major program at the same time. However, students can register double major and minor programs at the same time.
  • Students studying in the daytime education programs can only do Double Major in the daytime education programs and the students studying in the evening education programs can only do Double Major in the evening education programs.

MINOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

The aim of a minor program is to provide academically successful undergraduate students in a major program to become knowledgeable in a different subject they are interested in within the scope of another undergraduate program. 

Application to the Program and Admission Requirements

  • Students must be earliest at the beginning of their 3rd semester, latest at the beginning of their 6th semester as of the date they first enrolled in their major program.
  • Applications must be made to the Director of Student Affairs by the deadline indicated in the academic calendar with the application form and transcript.
  • In order for the student to apply for Minor Program, students must have accomplished all the courses they took in their major program/ associate degree program until the semester they are applying, also their Cumulative Grade Point Average must be at least 2,50. 
  • Students who study in Turkish programs and who want to do Minor in English programs must pass the DÜİYES exam or prove that they are successful in international and national exams accepted by the authorized departments of Doğuş University.
